Candle Keep - Entering the Dungeon

After speaking with CJ, the party is led down a hallway to a spiral staircase. They descend, walk down another long hall and stop at the heavy, barred door flanked by two guards in plate. They remove the bar, CJ's lieutenant unlocks the door, and inside is a small room with a rough hole in the ground about 3-4 feet across. Next to the pit is a coiled heavy rope attached to a large iron ring in the stone floor. A wooden frame stands against the back wall.

The party enters the room and bundles their gear to be lowered to the depths. The wooden frame is pushed over the hole, the rope draped across a support beam and tied to his waist, and the first delver starts down in full armor, lowered by the rest of the party.

Once at the bottom, he unties himself and stands guard while the equipment is lowered. He stands at the edge of a large cave; the hole from the well lies only a few feet from the cave wall. It is cool and somewhat damp. The cave slopes down before leveling out. It is not too difficult to navigate up or down the slope.

Rising from the natural stone floor is a grand, tiled boulevard lined with statues that leads to a door set in the far wall of the cave. The stone has been ornately carved. More carved entrances are visible along the wall, though none with a statue-lined path.
