Q20. Where is the nearest dragon or other monster with Type H treasure?

The dungeon. Obviously.

Referring back to Q14, who knows what Mhyrryss might have collected back in her nest. And there is the rumored dragon to the north.

Q19. Any legendary lost treasures I could be looking for?

Thousands of heroes fell in the cataclysmic final battle between the Giants and Dragons, leaving their weapons, armor, and other legendary items to be swallowed by the Blood Wastes. In the endless churning of the Wastes, these items may surface once more for new heroes to recover.

Q18. What is there to eat around here?

This is addressed in Q13 about taverns. The Three Apple Tavern offers exception food, including many apple-based dishes and beverages. Halflings know how to cook.

The brown snakes that hang from the trees in the Burntwood are also eaten by some inhabitants around the Keep, but the snakes are considered good luck so eating them is usually a last resort.

Q17. Are there any secret societies with sinister agendas I could join and/or fight?

There are secret factions within the dungeon and possibly within the Blood Wastes that would be perfect targets for fighting. Unfortunately, they are not known on the surface or in the Borderlands at this time.

Man, sometimes a dungeon-centric game loses out on things.

Q16. How about gladiatorial arenas complete with hard-won glory and fabulous cash prizes?

Another simple one: not here, unfortunately. This campaign is all about delving the megadungeon and hexploring the wilderness of the Borderlands and the Blood Wastes. Greyport does not have a gladiatorial arena; the empires would, but they are outside the scope of the campaign.

Q15. Are there any wars brewing I could go fight?

Pretty simple one today: No. Get back in the dungeon.

The closest thing to a war at present is the encroachment of the empires on the Borderlands and the resistance of the Blood Wastes' inhabitants, and its very existence, against the desires of those who would harvest its bloodstone. Once Giant and Dragon meet in the middle, however, hostilities are sure to break out once more.

Q14. What monsters are terrorizing the countryside sufficiently that if I kill them I will become famous?

He who slays Mhyrryss, the Broodmother, would be known throughout the Borderlands and word of such deed would spread through the empires. Mhyrryss is a wolf spider the size of a house who, accompanied by her endless brood of dog-to-horse-sized babies, controls a wide swathe of the Burntwood to the west of Candle Keep. She is said to fear the Keep's beacon flame and thus avoids the town.

Q12. Is there any place on the map where swords are illegal, magic is outlawed or any other notable hassles from Johnny Law?

When entering the outer bailey of Candle Keep, the guards will peace-bond weapons and enjoin visitors against casting hostile, damaging, or disruptive magics. Heribert Greenhill will reiterate these warnings to anyone seeking to lodge at the Copper Hand Inn and drawing a blade or casting in the Three Apple Tavern is a great way to get beaten by the guards, stripped to your skivvies, and tossed out the main gate.

Candle Jack does not allow visitors their weapons, armor, or magic in the inner bailey of the Keep except for delvers being escorted by his guards to the dungeon entrance.

Otherwise, it is not uncommon to see the armed and armored shopping in the outer bailey or wandering around the town. The Borderlands are dangerous, even next to the Keep.

Q11. Where can I hire mercenaries?

You can find plenty of candidates seeking to join an adventuring party at the Copper Hand Inn and the adjoining Three Apple Tavern, located inside Candle Keep. Candle Jack has spread word of the dungeon far and wide and invited those willing to delve its depths and plunder its riches (and pay him taxes) to come to Candle Keep for the opportunity.

Q10. Where can I find an alchemist, sage or other expert NPC?

Itzli from Embers and Ashes can provide some alchemical services in addition to her alchemical goods and supplies. Larger scale or more specialized alchemists, along with sages and other expert NPCs, can often be found for a price in Greyport. The expert might not be personally present in the city but an agent or broker can utilize their contacts to find one back in the giant or dragon lands.

Business interests will determine if they travel to Greyport to perform the job (or even set up shop) or if they will send the ordered items or information back.

Q9. Is there a magic guild my MU belongs to or that I can join in order to get more spells?

There are guilds in Greyport dedicated to the various colleges of magic. Some maintain a library or shop where joining is as simple as paying a fee. Others are secret societies that must be tracked down and an initiation performed before training can commence.

Q7. Where can we go to get some magical healing?

In Candle Keep, the infirmary or Chapel House of Aion. Most people end up at the infirmary first, under the mundane care of the surgeon, Phoebus. If his arts are insufficient, his wife Nyxa, a cleric of Aion, can offer healing spells.

Healing potions can be purchased from the infirmary, the Chapel House of Aion, the Broken Vial, or Embers and Ashes. Nyxa can scribe healing scrolls but is not particularly interested in doing so.

Your best bets nearby in Greyport are Tilted Anvil Ironworks or Steel Appeal. Neither specializes in non-humanoid armor but Tilted Anvil makes off-sized armor (both big and small) while Steel Appeal has the best craftsmen outside the empires.

If you really want/need a specialist, though, everyone will tell you to go to Eleph. Their armorers are well acquainted with beasts of all shapes and sizes.
