The treasure taxes paid to CJ on exiting the dungeon go toward expanding the services available to delvers in the Keep. A broader range of specialized goods and services are available in Greyport.
Merchants or goods/services marked with an asterisk (*) are not available at the beginning of the game but will appear as the Keep grows (drawing business there) or by special request (requiring a visit to Greyport).
Adventuring supplies
Eberk's Outfitters
Eberk is a retired caravan guard from Mamm. He used to accompany shipments of supplies from Greyport when the Keep was under construction and "came out of retirement" to open this shop when CJ put out the call for delvers. He occasionally gets a good deal on special items from his old caravan contacts. He owes a considerable sum of start-up money to CJ. Gregarious, born salesman, always talks up his equipment quality and upsells at every opportunity. Never lies. He knows that delvers rely on his equipment for their very lives. Willing to buy back remarkable equipment to display in his shop (such as a rope that held on by a thread despite a sword blow or a crowbar that felled a monster).- Stocks Basic equipment (p.A110-112) but no musical instruments except Whistle
- Sells Arrows, Bolts, Daggers, Knives, Shields, and Spears
- Can obtain Special Orders by request (p.A112-114)

Embers & Ashes
Itztli Xoxocacatzin, a strange and reclusive woman from Xochi. She clearly has skills both druidic and alchemical, as her healing potions are herbal concoctions. She has bulging eyes and a wide, flat nose, giving her a frog-like appearance. Her hair is long and starkly white. She leaves damp footprints wherever she walks.
- Concoctions, both alchemical and natural
- Healing Potions
- Other alchemical consumables like Alchemist's Matches, Nageteppo, Timed Candles, etc.*
- Can special order alchemical equipment like Backpack Alchemy Lab and Alchemist's Garb*
Luthier Windsmith, Elfard Master Craftsman*
Luthier Windsmith, elfard from Tremens. He is a tall, slender man with sharp features and long grey hair pulled into a tight ponytail. When he is available for hire, he is very reserved and to the point. He dresses in a suit with lace sleeves and a gold chain connected to tiny glasses in a waist pocket. Once working on an instrument, however, he becomes obsessive and an absolute perfectionist, neurotic about getting every detail just right, and soaring to overly dramatic joy once finished (literal tears at the sound of his instrument's music).- Music Instruments, including specialty instruments from DF8 like the Bow Harp
- Lives in Greyport
Magic Shops
The Broken Vial
Yiyi Xanthis, elfard proprietor from Hu (Yi1 yi2 means proper doctor). Very pretty young woman just starting out in the world with this shop. Smart and capable but lacking in confidence; always tries to do things by the book and how one is "supposed" to do it. Bit of a klutz (hence Broken Vial). Bob-cut black hair a la short-hair Korra swept back into bun (to keep it from burning or otherwise being exposed to chemicals). Piercing royal purple eyes.- Healing potions and Paut always on the shelf
- Keeps at least one dose of Alchemical Antidote and Universal Antidote under the counter at all times
- Appearance roll for other potions or will brew by request*
Taboos & Voodoos
Rajjij of Hamut, cat-folk? proprietor. He does not remember growing up; he was always this way; he is one Rajjij, not three. Dresses in very high quality, elegant clothing with tasteful jewelry. Punctuates his speech with the occasional magic trick (he is capable of anything). Keeps a glass fishbowl half full of mice-like rodents on the counter and occasionally snacks on them.
His right head is grandiose and boastful, telling bold stories and even bolder lies. It always has a tale to illustrate the awesome abilities of the items for sale and how he overcame impossible odds to succeed.
His left head is distracted but jolly. Sometimes its lids grow heavy and it dozes off while the others are talking. Other times, it plays with or snacks on mice from the bowl. When directly engaged, it pretends to have been listening and attempts to deflect to the other heads. The exception is when [food or an esoteric subject] comes up, which causes its ears to perk up and it actively seeks further information.
His center head is shrewd and sober, always looking for the sale. Its patience with the other heads has worn thin and it is known to bite them on the muzzle to shut them up or stop their shit.

The Sorcerror's Source*
Rimwess Anhuo, gnome proprietor from Beilong, Hu (Anhuo means Shore Throat). Yes, the name is a joke. Yes, it actually is funny. Just look above the door (sign says, "Yes, the name is a joke" and smaller font, "Yes, that 1 2."). No, it is not indicative of the quality of his work, which is top-notch. Demonstrates his ability with Scroll Scribbling (DtG p.34). Wears ornate clothing completely free of ink stains. Speaks with a raspy voice.- Wizardly and Universal scrolls, including charged

Her possessions are all superficially adorned to increase value. She acts like Rarity in her shop, calls everyone "dahling" in an affected accent, puts on a real show.- Power Item sales and recharging

The Copper Hand Inn
Heribert Greenhill, halfling proprietor from Tiam. He runs the inn and tavern with his wife Moschia and his 11 children who pop up doing various chores. A running theme is every time you open a door, a Greenhill steps through first. Heribert is very friendly, very welcoming, and perhaps a bit too trusting. However, he protects his family fiercely. The sign above the door bears an open hand in shimmering copper-colored paint and the rooms are numbered with 1-5 copper handprints on the doors (each belonging to one of his children). The Greenhills live in a loft above the inn. They have 10 daughters (Mori, Moni, Muna, Muan, Mina, Misha, Mora, Mana, Misa, Millie) and one son (Milo, pronounced me-low, not my-low).

Three Apple Tavern
Nyari Suzu, cat-folk bartender from Orochi. Nyari is a real people cat-person, always ready to lend a listening ear or talk yours off, depending on what you need. She happily throws back a glass when someone buys a round and has been known to dance across the bar and sing by the end of the night. She never forgets a face or a name.
Mae "Applejack" Cooper, serving wench from Eleph. She is a very hard worker and, while not Blooded, quite tall and muscular for a woman, a reminder of her life back on the farm. It usually falls to her to haul casks up from the cellar or toss rowdy patrons out the front door. If business is slow or everyone is too quiet, she will sometimes play the fiddle to liven up the room (happy guests buy more drinks, as Mr. Greenhill says).
Heribert Greenhill owns the tavern but most of the day-to-day functions are handled by Nyari and Mae with assistance from the kids. The tavern is known for some of the best food anywhere, not just the Keep. It is named for its three apple specialties, which they brew in the cellar: apple cider, apple wine, and apple brandy. Outside the tavern, south of the inn and the fountain, stands a magical apple tree that fruits year-round and produces multiple varieties of apple. The Tavern Special consists of baked apples served with a trio of cored apples holding a sampler of cider, wine, or brandy.

Chapel House of Aion & Infirmary
Phoebus and Nyxa Hemera, husband and wife Giants from Hu.
Phoebus is a surgeon and mundane healer who cares deeply for his patients. He never developed an aptitude for detachment nor a protective callus on his heart; he blames himself for every poor outcome. He takes personal care very seriously, maintaining his own health assiduously with rigorous exercise, healthy if unappetizing food, and as much sleep as he can manage.
Nyxa is a cleric of Aion, the Sculptor. She indulges Phoebus's mundane arts and allows him to run the Infirmary but, apart from certain surgical procedures, feels her esoteric medicine and healing magic are superior. She has a literally holier-than-thou air about her and her moments of levity carry a tinge of potential patronizing. No one can pin down whether she is a devout believer fed up with godless heathens or whether she resents joining the priesthood.

Gold Alliance Trust (bank)
A sign on the door states that the Gold Alliance Trust building is under the direct protection of Candle Keep. There is always a guard posted in the Small Tower to watch over the bank.
Garvan "Blackshark" Jorbec, hired muscle from Ryu. He is a gruff, menacing figure who delights in intimidation, making others feel scared and uncomfortable. His presence at the bank is as much deterrence as actual security, though it helps that he has no qualms with burying his dagger in someone's belly. He stands guard inside the bank during the day and, like Rydel, sleeps there overnight. By contract, a guardsman will occasionally relieve him for a personal day which he usually spends drinking in the tavern.

Striped Pony Trading Company
Adrin Darreros, proprietor from Eleph. Adrin has a fat belly, balding head, and hanging jowls with muttonchops who speaks with a slight lisp. He always wears a smile but his mood is often betrayed by his beady eyes and flashes of his short temper. His company provides the shipments of supplies from Greyport, making him an important and well-known figure in the Keep. His striped ponies are draft animals the size of Clydesdales with a brown brindle coat and a striped face.- Buys and sells bulk goods, bulk foods (grains, fruits, herbs, spices, incense, etc.), furniture, fabrics/textiles, containers (pots, jars, bottles), standard arms and armor, etc.
- Transports goods and materials as courier for a fee
Firion Frost, Jewel Merchant*
Human from Vast. Dresses in ostentatious foppery (an exotic fur-lined purple coat to his calves, waistcoat, trousers, broad-rimmed hat) and is festooned with gems and jewelry (rings, necklaces, cufflinks, earrings .. oh my god, I just created a pimp). Also sports a nice moustache. Acts the gentleman and is, as expected, very knowledgeable about gems and jewelry. Enjoys the top shelf liquors at the Tavern when he visits the Keep.
Clibble Fimwal, gnome from Vast. A master gemcutter, he rarely visits the Keep with Firion. Very old and thin, with thick glasses, prominent boney knuckles, and a slight shake to his hands that disappears when holding his tools.

Timeless Treasures (curios)
Jama Mtendi, proprietor from Orochi. Jama is a friendly, joyful woman with dark skin and a shining smile that seems to never leave her face. She treats customers as old friends and seems more interested in conversation than in making a deal. She sees the bright side of every situation, knowing that her wares carry stories with sad stops but, she hopes, happy continuations. No one in the Keep can match the breadth of her knowledge, gained from a youth spent traveling the trade routes, and other merchants will occasionally seek her expertise in evaluating merchandise or planning expeditions.- Items of artistic or historical value (paintings, statues, carved wooden boxes, tapestries, etc.), generally trending to the smaller side
- Occasionally one of her items turns out to be magical
Stables
Sakura Umagoya, stablemaster from Hu. She has a large, ugly scar on her forehead and her left eye is milky white from a horse kick as a child; she often wears a headband angled across both to avoid attention (she is not ashamed of them but knows customers might find them off-putting). She is quiet yet straightforward, more comfortable around animals than people despite her injury.
- Hayloft sleeping for servants and the destitute
- Room, board, and upkeep riding, draft, and pack animals
- Training for riders and animals
- Occasional animal sales (usually when a merchant cannot pay up)
Warehouse
Chi-Fu, warehouse supervisor from Hu. Chi-Fu is a pompous, elitist little man with the almost supernatural ability to look down his nose at someone twice his height. He lords his station over the common laborers and, as far as he is able, over the merchants (mostly via catty comments); he is particularly dismissive towards women. Conversely, he is obsequious in the presence of the Blooded. He sports a long, thin fu man chu mustache that led the stevedores to call him Catfish. Despite his supercilious attitude, he does an excellent job organizing the warehouse and moving goods in and out.
- Loading, unloading, storage, and cataloguing of bulk goods and other large items destined for trade
- Occasional "sealed box" sales (usually when a merchant cannot pay up)
Anything beyond the keep's ability to provide can be obtained with enough time and money via the trade city to the south. Goods can come with the normal provision deliveries or be expedited for a fee.
