Greyport, Redwick Fens, and Candle Keep
Greyport is a small trade city (pop. 7.5K/30K) that hugs the southern coast of the Borderlands. The Restless Road, an overland trade route, passes through the city as it stretches from Mamm to Orochi. The Shimmering Highway, the major sea route, also stops at Greyport to trade and resupply at the famous Qedo Market (a satellite location of Orochi's grand Qedo Bazaar).
The village of Redwick Fens (pop. 500) lies about 12 miles north of Greyport in the midst of a wide, fertile valley. Much of what Redwick grows is destined for Greyport or sent as supplies north to Candle Keep. It also serves as a trade stop for loggers and the trappers and furriers who hunt the Borderlands to send their goods down the Serpent River to the coast.
Candle Keep stands 50 miles north of Greyport (38 miles north of Redwick Fens) and is the closest known settlement to the Blood Wastes. The Keep can easily send treasure, lumber, stone, and ore downriver to market but travel upriver is mostly relegated to a dirt path that hugs the northern banks of the Serpent. A second route, known as the Hollow Way or Kelem's Path, consists of a seemingly unnatural, straight clearing that cuts through the forests and crosses the Serpent back and forth as it slices down to Greyport. Or, rather, the windings of the Serpent cross it. Locals believe it to be an ancient faerie road that bewitches those who travel it.
